BRADENTON, FL — A 58-year-old Bradenton man pleaded guilty to manufacturing counterfeit currency, the Department of Justice said in a news release.
Anthony Wayne Smith faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. His sentencing hearing will take place April 6.
Smith made counterfeit U.S. Federal Reserve notes at his Bradenton home, the DOJ said. While searching his home, investigators found a large quantity of counterfeit notes hidden throughout the residence, texturized printing paper and printers.
His laptop also contained digital images of U.S. Federal Reserve notes that had been used in the production and manufacture of counterfeit currency, according to the DOJ.
