Need help learning Blender for 3D modeling

I'm visiting Portland until the 22nd of January and would like to spend a few hours learning the basics of Blender, for the specific purpose of 3D modeling (not animation in this case). I'm fairly savvy when it comes to digital art software but I find this program overwhelming and intimidating. I just need encouraging hand to help me out. If there's anyone who's willing to meet up in a coffee shop for a few hours I'm happy to pay $20-$25/hour for a session, depending on the extent of your knowledge and experience!
