Description
GROTON, CT — A man was rescued after his canoe capsized Tuesday morning, according to a statement from Town of Groton police. Emergency dispatch received a call at 8:22 a.m. regarding a man that fell overboard from a canoe off of Esker Point.
At the time of the call, he was in the water and clinging to the side of a second small vessel.
Members of the Groton Town Police Department, Noank Fire Department, Long Point Fire Department, L&M Hospital paramedics and Mystic River Ambulance responded.
Several small boats were out duck hunting off Esker Point when the canoe capsized. The 27-year-old man in the canoe was wearing a life jacket, police said.
Workers from Spicer's Marina sent a launch out and recovered the man as emergency services arrived. The man was treated and refused additional medical treatment.
