DENVER, CO —Singer Celine Dion announced over the weekend that she has been forced to cancel the remaining shows of her North American tour this spring due to health issues. Dion had been scheduled to perform on March 9 at Ball Arena in Denver.
According to a release, the 53-year-old singer recently has been treated for severe and persistent muscle spasms that are preventing her from performing. Dion said her recovery is taking longer than expected and that she has been advised by her medical team to evaluate and treat the condition.
"I was really hoping that I'd be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen my doctors are prescribing," Dion said. "There's a lot of organizing and preparation that goes into our shows, and so we have to make decisions today which will affect the plans two months down the road.
"I'll be glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can't wait to be back on stage again."
Tour organizers said tickets purchased with a credit card through authorized ticket outlets will be refunded to the credit card used for purchase. Ticket holders for the canceled performances also will receive additional information via email.
Dion's "Courage World Tour" actually began prior to the pandemic, but shut down in March 2020. She had been scheduled to play in 16 cities in the U.S. and Canada between March 9 and April 22, 2022.
Representatives said the European leg of Dion's tour remains on the schedule. It is set to begin on May 25 in Birmingham, England.
Last October, Dion said muscle spasms were responsible for her canceling all of her upcoming shows in Las Vegas, which were scheduled for Nov. 2021 and Jan. and Feb. of this year.
