Man Allegedly Made Bomb, Shooting Threats On Bus In Bristol

BRISTOL, PA — Pennsylvania State Police responded to a report of a man making serious threats on a Greyhound bus that was pulled over in Bristol Township on Tuesday, Jan. 11. The man, who was on a bus rider from Boston to Philadelphia, wearing a New England Patriots sweatshirt, reportedly stood up out of nowhere while the bus went through Bucks County, yelling and making threats of violence toward fellow bus riders. Later identified as Bernie Tulip, 44, of Peabody, Massachusetts, Tulip told bus riders he had both a gun and a bomb. The bus driver pulled over in an attempt to calm Tulip, with another bus dispatched to transport the other bus riders safely to their destination. According to the bus driver, as the other riders left and he was trying to calm Tulip, Tulip attacked him; the bus driver then locked himself in the driver's cage to protect himself. Troopers who arrived said there was no weapons of any sort to be found, but they did find a used hypodermic needle and blood on the bathroom floor. Tulip, who has hypoglycemic blood sugar levels and abscesses on his arms, was transported the hospital for medical care. After he was released, Tulip was charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and other related charges. He was sent to jail on 10 percent of a $100,000 bail.
