Outdoor Learning Facility In Works As Park District Breaks Ground

BATAVIA, IL — Construction on an outdoor education and event facility in Batavia is officially underway. The Fox Valley Park District held a celebratory groundbreaking for the space at Lippold Park Friday. A project costing $2.35 million, the facility will expand educational opportunities for pre-schoolers, campers and scout groups, park district officials announced. The public will also have the opportunity to rent out the space for weddings, company picnics and other events. The 4,500-square-foot facility will be located adjacent to Red Oak Nature Center at 2343 S. River St. It's set to be completed later this year, officials said in a post on Facebook.
