Description
CORNELIUS, NC — The Town of Cornelius is likely to formally approve a new noise ordinance Tuesday night.
According to the agenda, the town will be revising the noise ordinance to match others in the state from 90 to 85 decibels during normal business hours (10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday) as well as 75 to 60 decibels in the overnight hours.
The change comes after three months of work and numerous complaints about live music at Boat Yard.
Chris Bhoukedes has recently assumed ownership of Boat Yard and has agreed to do $18,000 of work to minimize bass from live music and comply with the new noise restrictions.
The town says it has also had representatives speak with neighbors who approve of the new limits.
The ordinance is scheduled to be formally approved Tuesday night.
