Press release from the Mecklenburg County Government: 1/14/2022 Description1 In a continued effort to increase access to COVID-19 testing in the area, Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH) and Cabarrus Health Alliance have worked in collaboration with our testing providers StarMed and MAKO to open two new COVID-19 testing sites Monday, Jan. 17 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (StarMed) and Carowinds (MAKO). "We are so appreciative of organizations who continue to recognize and help meet the need for testing in our community," said Public Health Director Dr. Raynard Washington. "Thank you for keeping public health a priority." COVID-19 Testing Site Locations and Schedules: StarMed testing at zMAX Dragway, 6570 Bruton Smith Blvd., Concord Hours of Operation – Noon – 4 p.m. Jan. 17, Jan. 19 -20, Jan. 22, Jan. 24 -25, Jan. 29, Jan. 31, Feb. 1-3 PCR and Rapid Testing MAKO testing at Carowinds, 14523 Carowinds Blvd., Charlotte Hours of Operation – 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Open Monday through Saturday beginning Jan.17 PCR Testing only Free COVID-19 testing. No appointment necessary. Schedules are subject to change. Please check the StarMed and MAKO websites for the most updated information.   With COVID-19 cases at an all-time high in Mecklenburg County, Public Health continues to work with community partners to provide as much access to testing as possible. Find a free testing site near you by visiting the NC DHHS Find My Testing Place page or using the MCPH COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Sites map.    If you are having difficulty visiting a local testing site, you can also purchase at-home COVID-19 test kits online or at local pharmacies. Availability for kits in stores and online has recently improved.
