SUMMARY Help to oversee and care for the plants and fields on the farm as well as associated office work. Work with crew leaders and employees with direction from department manager to carry out the needs of the department. This position Reports to the Crop Production Manager Position Classification: nonexempt - hourly ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Improve irrigation schedule management by monitoring remote field reporting units and working with team to make any needed adjustments and/or repairs. • Enter data into Water Manager 1 & Water Manager 2 from all departments (100-150-125) • Assistant will pick up parts from various vendors to support farming operations. • Able to identify needs on a pipe repair below 4” • Develop new field irrigation system installation. • Keep inventory on chemicals and pipe supplies. • Submit monthly California Agriculture report online/book • Keep updated SDS Log. • Assist with crop analysis reports OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: • May drive truck • Able to identify common issues on the farm (pests and disease) • Other duties as assigned by manager SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES: • Ability to use computer • Bilingual (Spanish/English) • Ability to safely drive vehicles • Ability to use farm tools and equipment PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: • Working out side with temperatures varying from 40 degrees to 95 degrees • Ability to stand, and climb up and down steep slopes • Some cutting operations require bending over • Pushing and pulling Operation of landscape equipment such as weed walker, chainsaw, hedgers etc. Salary: $18-$22 per hour DOE Between 6:00 am to 5:00 pm depending on the time of the year, Monday to Friday may require some Saturdays.
