Winter Birding Walk with Milwaukee County Parks - Natural Areas Program's Brian Russart.
Winter is one of the best times of the season to see a diversity of water birds just offshore from our lakeside County Parks. Spotting upwards of 33 species of ducks, geese, gulls, loons, and grebes are possible!
Binoculars and/or a spotting scope are a must because some species prefer to stay far from shore. The Merlin bird app can also come in handy when identifying many of these species in their tricky winter plumages. Bundle up, bring a hot beverage, and your sense of adventure to get outdoors!
Location: Meeting at the south end of the South Shore Park parking lot at 9am. Then traveling to Veteran's Park and McKinley Marina before noon.
