Press release from the City of Austin: January 14, 2022 AUSTIN, Texas – The City of Austin's Economic Development Department (EDD) is distributing 96,000 masks to local small businesses at no-cost on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Business owners and their staff can drive through one of two city facilities beginning at 1 p.m. to pick up masks for employees and customers. "Austin's local small businesses play a large role in stopping the spread of COVID-19, which is why we are empowering our local businesses with these resources so they can continue prioritizing the well-being of employees and customers," said Veronica Briseño, Chief Economic Recovery Officer. "These resources help keep businesses open and customers safe." The drive-thru distributions are intended to support local small businesses and organizations. Austin Public Health hosts a series of free Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) distribution events. Those in need of masks can visit Personal Protective Equipment | AustinTexas.gov to find information on the next event.
