Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center is holding a virtual, public hearing regarding the academic medical center’s Title V Air Operating Permit on Wednesday, February 16, at 3 p.m. This public notice is being made in accordance with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Administrative Order 25, signed September 22, 2021, by Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette on behalf of Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Health. In accordance with this Administrative Order, and in accordance with the existing NJ Environmental Justice law N.J.S.A. 13:1D-157, et seq., Jersey Shore University Medical Center will be hosting the public hearing on the 5-year renewal of the hospital’s Title V Air Operating Permit. This air operating permit serves the public need of the hospital and surrounding community, allowing for the continued functioning of critical on-site heating, cooling and power generating equipment. This virtual hearing will provide the opportunity for public participation within the NJDEP designated overburdened community of Neptune Township. The NJDEP is encouraging interested parties to provide comments regarding existing conditions within the overburdened community and potential facility-wide environmental and public health stressors that could result in adverse impacts upon the overburdened community in the event of an approval. Representatives from both the NJDEP and Jersey Shore University Medical Center will be available during the virtual meeting to respond and address concerns raised by individuals in the community. Jersey Shore will be hosting the virtual town hall style event. This notice will be posted on the Neptune Township Town Hall public board, and on Asbury Park Patch.com. This virtual Zoom meeting will be held, beginning at 3 p.m., at https://hmhn.zoom.us/j/88060536299, with meeting ID 880-6053-6299.
