Captain Marty Sellers told local media just after 3 p.m. that investigators responded to Valley Hills Drive in Northport — just off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard — on a call of a shooting, with one victim reportedly shot in the chest.
Northjport Police Department Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter told Patch the initial call of the shooting came in around 2:30 p.m. at Valley Hills Apartments, which is part of the Northport Housing Authority.
He said a 16-year-old boy was shot while sitting in a car and was then transported by ambulance to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. The teen's condition is unclear at this time.
At the scene, a large section of the apartment complex was cordoned off, with the investigation focusing on a small two-door car that sustained damage to its windows.
The shooting also marks the second in Tuscaloosa County to begin the week, as a man is in stable condition after being shot in Coaling Monday morning.
This is a developing story. Tuscaloosa Patch will have more as it comes available.
