Description
Looking for the right group of musicians to put together a band. I’m looking for creative minded players. Music theory and rote memorization are fine but I’m looking for a vibe more than anything. Personality, emotion, style, attitude, and sense of humor in your playing is a must. I don’t want to use the term “jam band”, but something along that line. Dance music. Funk/reggae/pop/blues/jazz/middle eastern influences maybe, singer songwriter stuff, avant-garde weird stuff, artsy poetic, dark, light, storytelling, and most of all entertaining. Whatever fusion of whatever elements of music that works and feels right. I play guitar and a bunch of other things, I can sing, and I have whatever that intangible thing is. I have 42 original songs and I’d like to work some of them up with a band. I know a bunch of covers as well (most of which I do in my own style). I’m not the best anything, but I’m dynamic and entertaining and my songs are dope. Let’s have fun with this and be different than everyone else - whatever that ends up looking and sounding like. No drama. Some ego is fine just don’t be too fragile. (A little fragile is ok) I’m not trying to be a frontman but I’m afraid it’s unavoidable. Looking for players to support me in that role, but not looking to get all “I’m the frontman” about it. I can’t do my thing without supporting players and my ego ends at “my songs are dope”. They’ll be better with some hip cats involved. I’m 41 but don’t look a day over forty and a half. Definitely need a dynamic bass player, a versatile drummer, maybe a second guitar (I play rhythm and lead but not a great soloist), and maybe some keys but only if you got some individuality in your playing that is interesting. (I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t be boring). Open to some horns maybe, multi instrumentalists are very much preferred, and I’m not trying to pigeon hole a band into one genre. Be open and loose, but also be ready. Magic is real, and we’ve no idea what’s going to happen next. My songs are as good as anything out there right now, better than most. The possibility of meeting a few folks, connecting musically and falling into something great is so fucking real. So why not us? Why not us? I don’t have a ton of gear or a place to rehearse, BUT,…. I have the songs and the intangibles.
