Adoption fee applies so they're kept as pets. Sorry cage pics are so messy I scattered aspen shavings on the shelves for them to play on. I have 4 wonderful males, 2 are 7 months and 2 are 4 months, we had an accident early on so the 2 younger ones are the sons of one of the older ones. They come with their 9 cubic foot cage (25.2 x 17.2 x 52), some food mix, a rope corner hammock, a tube hammock, 2 plastic baskets tied to the side as beds, a wooden cabin hide, a digging play box, a little wooden ladder, food and water bowl but they need more toys, I got cheap hammocks and hides and they destroyed them. Each of them have very distinct personalities and are sweet and friendly, but some are more shy. They're not as tame as they should be by now because I've been too busy starting a business and working on moving to give them the time they deserve. Rat's need a home mixed diet as no brand of pet food meets all their needs but I can give you the ratios of common market and pet store items. They need fresh veggies every day or two, and at least an hour out of their cage a day in a play pen (easy to make with cardboard or other material) Or once tamed properly can free roam with supervision. Rat's are highly intelligent and inquisitive, so they need a lot of toys and enrichment. They are social and cannot live alone, you must always have at least 2. They can't have baths as it causes skin conditions, and there are some foods that are toxic to them, so RESEARCH IS IMPORTANT. Of the older brothers Bo is the least socialized, he jumped off people a couple of times when we first got him and I think he's sure we picked him up and threw him with how he acts. He is sweet just very nervous, loud noises scare him and he spends most of his time in the cabin hide, but likes offerings left at the door. He needs a lot of patience and 1 on 1 time to get him comfortable and I wish I could myself. Grog is the father of the younger ones he's the gentlest but also the largest, he takes food gently likes to be pet gently, and picked up gently, so he'll need a gentle hand to become more social, but he is already very sweet. The older boys need the most socialization as the younger 2 were raised being handled. Both of the older brothers look almost identical but Bo is a dumbo. Fjord is the larger young brother. He's a hooded and he's very friendly, first to the door to be pet, likes being on your shoulder (unless you are near the cage, in which case he just tries to go back) you can make him zoom by ruffling his fur but he isn't very playful so much as he plays around. He sometimes comes when you say his name and make kissing sounds, Big sweetie. Caleb is the smallest and black with white socks, he's a mischief maker and a goofball, easy to rile up to play and an escape artist, he steals food, starts play fights, and orchestrates escapes from the cardboard walled play pen. He also gives gentle annoyed nips if you hold him in place, never hurts but is funny. It isn't nice to make him do so though. He has a huge personality.
