Berkeley based guitarist, producer, composer, and instructor Dakota Salazar has been recording, teaching and performing in the Bay Area and on stages across the United States since graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Music Theory and Composition in 2012. Currently available for one-on-one guitar instruction in-person locally in Berkeley or worldwide via zoom. Lessons focus on the fundamentals of rock, pop, and acoustic guitar, with an emphasis on developing well rounded and independent musicians, capable of writing, playing, and improvising by ear. I have a long history of working with youth in classroom, small group, and one-on one settings, and I know that learning happens best when students are having fun and motivated to practice. As such I prioritize learning techniques and theory through well-known songs that are fun to play, as well as allowing each student’s passions and curiosities drive individualized lesson planning.
