ARLINGTON, VA — Each week, Patch spotlights a lovable cat or dog — and even the occasional bunny — looking for the their forever home with the help of the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.
Chelsea Jones, AWLA's senior communications specialist, told Patch earlier this week that an iguana named Reptar has gotten zero adoption interest since arriving at the shelter.
Those who grew up watching "Rugrats" on Nickelodeon will recognize where Reptar's name came from. AWLA is hoping Nick fans will act more like Tommy and show some for this guy instead of being an Angelica.
If that doesn't motivate you, here's a plea from the iguana himself shared by AWLA:
"I am Reptar! Hear me roar! Just kidding, I don't roar but I sure do look as cool as a T-rex. Like my namesake, I am smooth and green. But my pastimes include basking under my heat lamp and eating my veggies, rather than destroying cartoon cities."
If you are interested in meeting Reptar, please contact AWLA's adoptions team at [email protected] to learn more about him. AWLA is looking for an applicant with prior large reptile experience.
Pet of the Week highlights animals available for adoption from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. The Arlington County Animal Shelter is located at 2650 S. Arlington Mill Drive, Arlington, VA 22206. Visit AWLA's website to find out more.
