CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Patch recently asked Facebook followers one thing they would like to see their town do differently in 2022.
Readers responded in comments with changes they hope to see coming to town in the future.
What were some of their answers?
"More amenities in the township," like camps, kids programs, movie nights and concerts that surrounding towns offer. The bathrooms at the sports fields need to be unlocked so visiting teams don't need to be told to use the restrooms at Dunkin'. Resurfacing of the Colony tennis courts, with paddle tennis courts ruined during Hurricane Sandy that were never replaced. "We have a nice town, we need amenities and things kept up if we are going to maintain our housing values and keep attracting new residents." The second hearing of citizens added back at the Township Committee meetings. "The current majority ran on a platform of citizen involvement and transparency but this is not allowing citizens to participate nor does it encourage transparency." - Jennifer Pollock McNally
"Improved community activities/amenities and a more robust in-house Recreation Department, in Chatham Township. Fireworks displays, parades and ice skating rinks, offered in neighboring towns, were additional items mentioned. "Chatham Township is beautiful and has ample space to offer more for residents." - Eve Katz
Offering a public ice rink and fireworks perhaps at Shunpike field. "Just more community entertainment would be lovely." - Erin White
"Municipal day camp, outdoor events," Sarah Caffrey
