CHICAGO, IL — A newborn baby was found dead in a duffel bag Saturday near a Chicago Fire Department firehouse on the Near North Side, according to multiple reports.
The baby boy was found around 5 a.m. in the 1000 block of North Orleans, the Chicago Tribune reported. The baby was found in a duffel bag covered in snow as firefighters were shoveling, police told the Tribune.
No further information was available. Area Three detectives are investigating, reports said.

Illinois's Safe Haven Law establishes safe places where parents can relinquish newborn infants. The purpose of the Safe Haven Law is to prevent babies from being abandoned in places where they may come to harm.
