Description

Press release from the City of Cupertino: 01/14/2022 Yesterday evening, the Cupertino City Council considered and approved two new residential proposals, each of which will bring additional housing to Cupertino. Following a process that included meaningful public and Council input, the City Council worked with the applicants to deliver refinements and improvements to each project related to environmental, affordable-housing-based and transportation-based considerations. Both projects include onsite affordable housing as part of the City's below market rate housing program. The first project, at 10625 S Foothill Boulevard, authorized construction of mixed-use development on a 1.378-acre site currently occupied by a commercial shopping building and a residential unit. The project includes the demolition of the existing buildings on the site, as well as the construction of 13 attached and small lot single-family units and one mixed-use building with 4,500 square feet of commercial space and five apartments. The second approved project, at 22690 Stevens Creek Boulevard, will allow for construction of attached single-family homes on a 0.63-acre site currently occupied by a commercial building. The project includes the demolition of the commercial building and construction of a nine-unit residential development, including one with an accessory dwelling unit (ADU).
