Description
BERKELEY, CA —Evacuation orders have been lifted for boats and docks at the Berkeley Marina, according to a Berkeley police spokesperson.
However, the tsunami advisory issued earlier Saturday remains in effect early Saturday evening.
Police and fire officials advise individuals to use caution on boats and docks at the marina until further notice.
More than 100 residents from the immediate area were evacuated Saturday.
Early Saturday morning, a mandatory evacuation order was issued because of the tsunami warning, which was related to the underwater volcanic eruption on Tonga in the South Pacific nearly 24 hours ago.
Waves reaching two to three feet high had been expected Saturday morning.
