Hello: I'm completely innocent of three misdemeanors I was charged with. I have a totally clean record and an abundance of evidence that could exonerate me. But for reasons that I will briefly mention, I have not been able to be exonerated yet. And because of two very significant hardships I contended with during the pandemic, I have not been able to afford a good attorney, one who would put the necessary time/work into the case. Consequently, I had to settle for "the system's" assigned attorney who, unfortunately, didn't put - throughout a long year's time-- the time and effort necessary to truly help the case (e.g., hasn't gathered readily available and compelling evidence, interviewed a key eyewitness and other individuals who would certainly be able to provide compelling evidence that would likely bring about a dismissal. And because these individuals who could support my cause were not interviewed for such a long time, along with failing to obtain other vital evidence that would have likely brought about a resolution, I went to this attorney's supervisor at which time I voiced my legitimate concerns..more specifically, thatv this Atty has not engaged in virtually any productive actions to help my case for a whole year. And when this attorney found out that I did this, they were highly upset. Consequently, this attorneys is actually harming my case by engaging in both action that negatively hurt my case and also continuing, all the more, to neglect doing things that would certainly help my case. As well, their immediate supervisor did absolutely nothing to resolve matters. And because of this, I brought the matter to the attention of the supervisor of the immediate supervisor of this attorney. And, naturally, I realized that bringing my concerns to this particular high-level supervisor, it very well might "upset" this person and make things even worse. However, I felt I had no choice in doing so. And when I did, it highly upset this attorney (although I believed, in the end, my actions would motivate this person to begin truly working on my case). However, this Atty began intentionally not doing - all the more- the work necessary to help my case. As well, when I met with both of these supervisors, this unhelpful attorney, once they found out what I did, began to cleverly word emails to make it sound that I had done things that hurt my case, such as supposedly dragging the whole case out, etc.And although these statements are not true, they were believed by department supervisor. I came to see that these "shifting-the-blame" written statements tend to be both believed and allowed to remain, in part I think by the sheer fact that virtually all the legal "professionals" in thw courthouse, ones that are involved in prosecuting, litigating and presiding over cases, maintain a sort of buddy-buddy relationship in which they don't want to make any of their colleagues/court personnel look "less than professional;" this allows said individuals to not be accountable for their actions, or lack of them. Also, since I am a U.S Veteran (served active duty and honorably discharged) I sought out to see if the VA, or any other entity that works in collaboration with the VA, could provide legal assistance for veterans; but, unfortunately, at this time they only assist veterans with civil matters. So, yesterday in desperation, both because of the egregious neglect by this present assigned attorney and because I received two referrals to a so-called good attorney who, it was said, is competent and truly cares about their clients' interests, I gave my "last few thousands" to this attorney because in the consultation Attty seemed real nice and what not. I was to learn later when I researched this attorney further online, that there were a number of convincing reviews that communicated, "Stay away from this law office; for, although the head attorney of office has decades of experience and received (supposedly) numerous accolades, being able to say all the "right words" in a seemingly caring tone of voice, it is done to lure people in; only to, shortly thereafter, not provide adequate legal services and representation to these individuals (after the retainer fee - numerous thousands-- are given over). And although I detected a few red flags, such as when I did ask important questions, this very experienced Atty told me that, "..because it's running late, I can't dive deep when answering your questions which are valid but they require more time to answer; but I assure you I'll be able to answer them when we sit down and go over things more thoroughly." So, in desperation I thought this was a good attorney, I came to that wrong conclusion after looking at all the plaques, certificates licenses etcetera hanging on the wall; so I Igave thousands- almost all that I had- so I can have "peace of mind." Bt after i left the office, I further researched this attorney online and found very negative reviews on this them. As well, they were plenty of people who clicked the thumbs up icon to agree with the commentor.. I had missed this info months ago when I had tried to find a replacement attorney, because some of these very negative reviews were not listed at that time. So, I'm presently hoping and praying that someone in the Craigslist community could assist me by helping me connect with someone knowledgeable in law, and who'd be willing to help me try to negotiate with this attorney-- that I mistakenly hired yesterday,- to return my retainer that I gave via my Visa debit card, and also to cancel out the payment contract. I did this because I am presently completely physically and emotionally spent. I believed this attorneys convincing lines, but now I realize that it was a mistake (once I did more research).. I'm hoping and have been praying that I would connect with someone who's knowledgeable in the legal field (one that may even know of well connected professionals in the field within LA County-- although I would welcome and appreciate any words of insight that might assist me in obtaining any degree of resolution and to help ne find an Atty who would offer a reduced rate for a veteran. If you can assist in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me; it would be very appreciated... beyond words. Thank you.
