Description

Drummer, 26, with 10+ years experience (including musical/theater productions and symphony)... I have been Shedding my stimi kit since spring 2020 and am ready to burst out of my private musical bubble and find/build a fun project! I have jazz sensibility and an affinity for translating and underwriting what I hear with my instruments (in other words, I have a great ear and prefer an intuitive approach to music making). In terms of interest: I am into kraut rock (I'm half German), art rock, psych rock and similar. I like a bit of grit and a bit of groove. I am also intrigued by music where space and/or noise is prioritized (shoegaze/stoner rock). I like funky/goovy music as well as electronic (techno/jungle/industrial/IDM)..... Music-making that breathes life and isn't constrained by being overly conceptualized or wrapped'n'bowed in production is what I'm after. I don't want to strive to always sound the same, or worse, sound the same as something else... King Giz, Deerhoof, Radiohead are contemporary influences and a kind of sound pool I might like to dive into. I am not great at following specific artists because I mainly listen to local (Xray/Freeform) and online underground radio (Somafm) but am well versed in music, some days easily listening over 6h! Currently, I am particularly interested in how electronic/sample based music is being rewired into acoustic/human performance... I bring a particular style in my playing but am malleable and ready to dial into a project with the right people. If this sounds like an approach compatible with your project or idea or willingness to Jam, reach out! Prost, Karl P.S. Logistically, I have a fairly good room and access to a PA. I bike everywhere, no car. Ideally an engaged project would grow into another space, but I am able to host Jams (vaxxed or masked).
