Rosalie Flores, Shawna Brown and the City of Albuquerque are hosting three community discussions on whether the city of Albuquerque should implement a social equity program in regards to cannabis. How do we repair the harms done by the War on Drugs? The purpose of these discussions is to: Define equity and its use and need in the New Mexico marijuana/cannabis industry; Share information about the drug war; Gain insight on desired criteria for social equity applicants and what needs exist for cannabis social equity programs; Discuss potential tax dollar allocation; Begin the creation of a network and resource directory for future organizational efforts. Rosalie, Director of Cannabis Equity, works to expunge formerly incarcerated of drug charges. Shawna is the former Director of the New Mexico Medical Cannabis Conference and deputy director for special projects of the New Mexico Black Leadership Council. This zoom event is Tues. Jan. 25th, Wed. Jan. 26th, and Thurs. Jan. 27th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. We are seeking input from community members who have been negatively impacted by the war on drugs.
