Description

Bridging the Gap Speaker Panel Series Feb 1st - How Capitalism is Changing: What Small Businesses Need to Know. What is a Social Impact business? A Social Impact business is any organization that prioritizes doing work that consciously, systemically and sustainably serves to solve a local or global community need, using entrepreneurship and a strong business model to fund their efforts (From the NI4SI Website.) According to Porter Novelli’s article in 2020 in The Business Imperative For Social Justice Today, 71% of Americans believe companies have more responsibility than ever before to address social issues. What does this mean for you? It means current and future consumer generations are shopping businesses that are socially conscious in some form or another. They seek out these businesses to support. Don't be left out in the cold! Traditional business models have shown 3 sectors of business: For Profit, Non Profit and Government. What we are learning now is there is actually a 4th sector emerging with quite a bit of power. This 4th sector focuses on Social Enterprise, or what I like to call, the perfect marriage between the For Profit and Non Profit Sectors. You are seeing more and more businesses emerge who are considered "Conscious Capitalists." These businesses are more concerned with a higher mission as opposed to bottom lines: Purpose Over Profit! But what matters, is that consumers are taking note. They are seeing these trends and are seeking out these businesses to support. This can mean huge impact on small businesses, start ups and future company growth. Jonathan Liebert and Stacey Burns are spearheading this movement in Colorado Springs (and they are getting recognized nationally for their work as well!). They are here to share more about what this means to you as small business owner and the resources available to you through the Better Business Bureau and the National Institute for Social Impact. We have also just announced Special Guest and Social Entrepreneur, Taylor Draper will be joining Jonathan and Stacey. Taylor is the owner of Inherent Menswear, a Social Enterprise Business right here in Colorado Springs. He will be sharing more about their model and what being a social enterprise business has meant for them and our community. This is a MUST SEE Event! The Bridging the Gap Speaker Series is brought to you by Community and Cocktails, a networking group of local entrepreneurs who are here to help you build community through education, networking and fun! This event is the 1st in a 3 part series on how to better engage with your city and an introduction to resources that are out there and available to you as a small business owner!
