WELCOME TO SHTF*CON! (aka SOUTHERN HERESY TEXAS FREEDOM CON), a Narrative-based Horus Heresy gaming weekend in Houston, Texas! THE HORNS OF WAR HAVE BEEN SOUNDED! ARE YOU READY TO ANSWER THE CALL? Been forever since you've seen your Heresy buddies? Want to get together in a great gaming environment, without any stress, and get some amazing games in with old and new friends in the Horus Heresy community? We've got the event for you! Coming March 4th-6th, 2022, a Team Play driven event, the likes of which only seen in the eyes of Angels... ("Blood", "Dark", or "of Death", it's up to you...) Hosted here in Houston, this is a 56 person event, focused on the driving force behind our community: Fellowship. It's time for us to gather again, play amazing games and tell awesome tales! Lunch will be provided on both Saturday, and Sunday by the amazing Sanders Catering! They will be bringing Pulled Pork sandwiches on Saturday, and Chopped Beef Sandwiches on Sunday! Chips and Drinks will be provided as well! All event passes include all three days AND A LIMITED-EDITION 2022 SHTF*CON RTIC metal 30oz Tumbler to keep your beverages ice cold! A special rate and block of rooms for SHTF*CON has been reserved at the Courtyard Houston I-10 West/Energy Corridor at12401 Katy Freeway (I-10 & Dairy Ashford) Houston, Texas 77079. In addition to a discounted rate, all attendees staying at the hotel will be served a FREE BREAKFAST on the mornings of the event. All unpainted models shall be shunned and your lineage shamed! #fullypaintedisforclosers NOTE: Mournival Events Rules 3.8 will be allowed (but not mandatory) for those wishing to use them. FRONTLINE: Bring your favorite 2000 pt list, and be ready to grab a buddy and throw down! Come and play some great missions, laid out across some stellar tables. Alternatively... need to test your mettle or prove a point? Have a desire to see who's the best one-on-one? Mano a mano? Rock up to an empty table, grab the mission, and put your steel (and theirs) to the test! ZONE MORTALIS: Down in the depths of the facilities beneath the battlefield, a conflict has erupted. Bring 1250 points of your finest warriors and battle in the darkness for supremacy over your opponents! FRIDAY: Meet, Greet, DEFEAT! Come on in and get some games in with the crew! We'll have plenty of tables ready to go, and plenty of space for the blood to flow! Your victories today influence the battles the following days! Fight hard, Fight well! Frontline and Zone Mortalis games on deck, pick a buddy, find some opponents, and let the clash begin! SATURDAY: APOCALYPSE! Let the Horns of War bellow and the titans clash! This event will be run by the indomitable Cody McGarity! These rules will be used: Legacy Apocalypse Format Army selection: Each player will bring an army with no restrictions on force organization other than no selections from the Troops slot and no more than 1 HQ per 1000 points. Players must have a total points cost for the army. If possible, the armies should be easily broken into chunks that are multiples of 1000. Players must bring note cards with the stats, special rules, and weapons for each unit they bring. Mechanicum players take note: Monstrous Creature Troops choices are allowed for this event. Each team will pick a player to represent them and be the “General” for their side. Table setup: Teams will take turns placing three (3) 40mm objectives each. These objectives cannot be placed in any deployment zone or within 12” of another objective. Players are encouraged to bring customized objective markers Deployment: Each General will take turns bidding how much time their side will have for deployment. The side with the lowest bid will have that long to set up and will take first turn. The other side will then have the amount of time they bid to deploy. The Generals will roll off to determine who bids first. The armies will be split into 3 groups by points, 50% of the army will be deployed before the game, 25% will come on turn 1 and 25% will come on turn 2, there will be no rolling for reserves. The game will use the dawn of war deployment. Certain areas of the board will be designated as titan deployment. Titans must stay in these areas unless all enemy titans in the area have been destroyed after which they may then move around the board as normal. Turns: Each side’s turns will be limited to 45 minutes. Scoring: Teams score 2 points for controlling an objective at the end of a battle round. To control an objective a team must have the most models within 3” of the edge of the objective Each General will be given a deck of Objectives, at the beginning of their turn they may draw 3 cards from the deck and keep 2, these cards are given to a player and only that player may score them. all cards are returned to the deck at the beginning of the next turn and reshuffled. Teams also score points in the following ways: 1 Victory Point for any unit costing 500 points or less 2 Victory Points for any unit costing 501 points to 1500 points 3 Victory Points for any unit costing more than 1501 points Primarchs are allowed. Only one Unique Character may be used. IE If player A takes Kharn, player B cannot. Call outs for Characters will be done on February 1st. More announcements to follow on this! Sunday: Funday! The culmination of destruction... With your enemy on the retreat, can you sweep them, and secure victory? Or can they make their escape, and live to continue the fight another day? Find a new buddy, and find fresh opponents to squabble with! Fashion new friendships, crush your enemies, and see them driven before you! (Lamentation of their women is optional.) Adeptus Titanicus: This event is up in the air. Have you had an especially great game? Come and tell us about it! We'll add it into the pile of other awesome game reports, and we'll find the finest of us all and award them with something amazing! BEST PAINTED: As judged by Professional Judge and Community voting! Jimbo Burrell will be in the house during our event, looking over your fine work! He shall award one of you with a great and hearty boon! Also, you shall be bestowed with the power to do the same yourselves! Vote for your favorite army on Sunday morning, and treat one of your magnificent compatriots to a great prize! ODDBALL AWARD: For the fluffiest, most narrative list brought, as voted on by your peers! Forget the powergaming BS, instead think of the weirdest, fluffiest, craziest, most fun army to play and see how crazy it can get on the battlefield!
