Description

Find out what your community garden has been doing over the past year and get involved for 2022! It's an exciting year for Gardeners for Regional Organic Well-being this year, as we will be planting an innovative, intensively planted, mulched organic fruit tree orchard with novel varieties for this area. Trees will be inoculated with a mycorhizal preparation to enhance root growth and the white-bark mulch will be inoculated with mushroom spawn for mushroom production as well as enhanced nutrient uptake for the trees. A series of classes on orchard and garden production will be held this winter. Classroom instruction will be at the Kootenai River Inn, with hands-on sessions at the GROW garden and elsewhere. Classes are half-price for GROW members. Space is limited, so sign up early! Topics include planning and planting an orchard; pruning and pest control; grafting fruit trees; enhancing pollinator habitat and growing small fruits, such as berries; and more. See link. In addition, we will continue our important work of providing low-cost, prepared organic gardening plots and raised beds for the community and supplying organic produce to area food banks. Come find out how you can get involved! Space is limited, due to Covid restrictions. Zoom participation is available at this link with passcode 2022.
