Description
TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury is seeking public input on flood-prone areas of town as part of a state-funded assessment of town infrastructure.
The town received a $193,935 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness grant for "resilience planning and flood mitigation in the face of climate change."
With the Merrimack River Watershed Council and the engineering firm Weston and Sampson the town is working on a town-wide assessment of land that can be used for flood management and stormwater storage. The project aims to prevent flooding in roads, homes and businesses.
The survey can be found at bit.ly/TewksburyFloodingSurvey. The team asked that anyone affected by flooding take the survey and visit the project's website.
The project team also plans to:
Determine what town-owned parcels of land could be used for green infrastructure, and flood management. Identify potential flood-resilient properties suitable for affordable housing. Christopher Huffaker can be reached at 412-265-8353 or [email protected].
