ISLAND PARK, NY — A man, who driving erratically on Long Beach Road, was subsequently taken into custody for using a stolen vehicle, police said.
Claude Fleury, 25, of Wheatley Heights, was seen speeding Wednesday morning in a gray Honda CRV with no tires on the driver's side, detectives said.
The vehicle was located, unoccupied, in an Outback Steakhouse parking lot on Long Beach Road, police said.
Fleury was spotted exiting a nearby Ace Hardware store, according to police.
In their investigation, officers determined the vehicle was reported stolen earlier in the day from Hempstead.
Fleury was arrested without further incident and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was scheduled for arraignment on Thursday in Hempstead.
