Here are the top 3 stories today in Madison: Dane County's Library Service department will launch a new internship program for youth of color this fall. The Ripple Intern Program is meant to give students in their late teens and early twenties hands-on library experience at sites around the county through paid internships. The program is funded by an endowment plus a $20,000 grant, which was awarded last month by the Madison Community Foundation. (WMTV - NBC15)The city of Madison's Public Safety Review Committee voted Wednesday night to put a police body camera program on hold. The city had originally budgeted $83,000 to buy 48 cameras for officers on the north side to pilot the program. During Wednesday's meeting, Alderman Brian Benford said the money would be better spent on helping communities of color. Police Chief Shon Barnes hopes to hold a public hearing on the pilot program later this year. (Channel3000.com - WISC-TV3)Madison's Beer and Cheese Fest will return next weekend after being canceled last year due to the pandemic. Organizers are imposing safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and all attendees, brewers, vendors, and volunteers must be fully vaccinated. 2,200 tickets have already been sold for the event, and more than 100 breweries are expected to attend.
