NEW HAVEN, CT — Five Bishop Woods School students are hospitalized after they ate what officials said "appeared to be candy" and began vomiting.
New Haven Public Schools spokesperson Justin Harmon said the "candy" was brought in by another student.
Harmon said New Haven police are "investigating what may have been in the candy."
School staff "conducted a sweep of the school," Harmon said. He added that it "appeared that no other children had ingested the substance."
The parents of the children who were transported to the hospital were contacted, Harmon said.
"All other students at the school are well, and school is proceeding," Harmon said.
He added that school social workers "are going to classes to talk to the students about what happened."
Bishop Woods is a K through 8 magnet school on Quinnipiac Avenue.
