Description
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield will hold its 35th annual Dr. Martin Luther King commemoration event with a community march on Monday, Jan. 17.
Hosted by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Westfield, the walk will begin at the MLK monument on the South Avenue Circle at 12:30 p.m. and end at the gazebo Mindowaskin Park around 1 p.m.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the regular annual commemorative service was cancelled, but the Association will host a short outdoor event to commemorate the day and reflect on Dr. King's legacy of racial, social and economic justice.
According to their website, the mission of Westfield's MLK Association is "to keep the memory of Dr. King alive by focusing the community on the important tenets from the words and life of Dr. King."
The event is rain or shine and all are welcome to attend.
Further questions can be emailed to [email protected] and information can be found on the Association's website.
