MERCER COUNTY, NJ — If your New Year's resolution is to burn all the holiday calories, looks like you have an uphill task. Why? Because it's Girl Scout Cookie Season. And this time, they are collaborating with DoorDash to bring contactless, same-day delivery. Think Thin Mints, and Shortbread – all brought to your doorstep. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest female-led entrepreneurship and financial literacy program in the country. For more than 100 years, the program has not only benefitted local troops and the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ) Council, it also assists in developing innovative programs that help build confidence, courage, and character. "As our GSRI research has shown, the Girl Scout Cookie Program makes a difference for girls," said Ginny Hill, GSCSNJ CEO. "It provides girls with opportunities to participate in activities that support entrepreneurship. The program offers them the chance to solve real problems such as how to adapt to, and be resilient in, a global pandemic, and helps them embrace challenges and take risks." In addition to the usual lineup of cookies – Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs, Lemonades, Do-Si-Dos, and more – the scouts have introduced a new cookie: Adventurefuls. According to the Girl Scouts, they are "indulgent brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel flavored creme with a hint of sea salt." The Girl Scout cookies will be available from Jan. 13 through March 27. For more information, visit gscsnj.org. Thank you for reading. Have a correction or news tip?
