Description

Baby micro squirrels, born November 24 2021, for adoption. We have one normal color and three pied colored, those have white tipped tails!! Normal adoption fee is $150 and the pied colored have adoption fees of $175. 1. Micro squirrels are native to Central and south Africa, from forests to scrub lands. They are an intermediate animal to care for due to their quickness. Micro squirrels are nocturnal, so they generally are up all night, but we’ve been playing with them during the day to get them used to being handled during the day time. They are agile, can be quick at times, and are excellent climbers. 2. Their lifespan is between 5-7 years if cared for properly. They have a good temperament and can be super sweet cuddlers, falling asleep in your hands with consistent handling. 3. I have found the best way to house them is in a 10-20 gallon tank with a metal screen top. If using a 20 gallon to give them more room to climb and play, make sure it’s a 20 gallon long, not high! Make sure to get clips to securely keep the cage closed, they are escape artists!!! We gave them a wheel to run in, tunnels to hide in and wood perches to climb on. Shavings such as fine pine or aspen are perfect for bedding. You can use the bedding that looks like cotton too. Avoid cedar! Have a pal home or critter keeper to place them in when cleaning the cage weekly. They will chew through cardboard, so these small plastic carriers are perfect for weekly cleanings. 4. Fresh food and water daily! For food and water I gave them each a ceramic bowl, so they can’t chew through them. Water from the tap is fine. For food, variety is key! I like the Royal Wing fruit and nut bird seed blend from tractor supply, rodent nuggets, and freeze dried meal worms. I’ll offer some fruits and veggies once to twice a week in addition to the everyday feeding. Leave fruits and veggies in no longer than two hours, to avoid spoiling. I like to offer them the fruits and veggies around 6PM, so I can take them out around 8PM. 5. Micro squirrels are social animals and can be housed in pairs or groups. A male and female WILL have babies. Same gender groups are okay.
