CONCORD, NH — Breast cancer scammers in the southeastern part of the state violated New Hampshire charity laws and now, have to pay fines, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. The Fab Family Fund, Inc., Shanna Pinet, and David Pinet violated laws pertaining to charitable orgs — including deceptive fundraising, breach of fiduciary duties, and failure to comply with an administrative subpoena. They claimed to be a 501(c)3 nonprofit when they were not and collected donations for zoom chats with Pinet, as "Dr. Fab, the Naturopathic Doctor," even though she was not licensed as a naturopathic doctor in New Hampshire or elsewhere in the United States. None of the funds raised actually supported the organization's mission to "educate, facilitate and grant Breast Cancer Thrivers and their families an all-expense-paid trip for solace and healing," officials said. Rockingham County Superior Court ordered Shanna Pinet and David Pinet to pay $5,794 in restitution, $15,287 to the attorney general for fees and costs, and $40,000 in civil penalties.
