Here are the top 3 stories today in Savannah: A Martin Luther King, Jr. monument and park will be dedicated to Mr. King on Saturday in Savannah. This is the first monument in Savannah to honor MLK. The dedication will take place at 2 p.m. on the Savannah riverfront at the Plant Riverside District. (WTOC) Ten men were honored for their life-saving actions on the Savannah River. Last April, a man, woman, and five-year-old boy were tossed into the river current when their boat ran into a barge. A group of workers jumped into the water and were able to rescue the woman and child. (WTOC) Despite COVID setbacks, Peach Cobbler Factory has opened its first Georgia location in downtown Savannah. The dessert shop serves various cobblers including strawberry, apple walnut raisin, and cinnamon peach praline. They also have cinnamon rolls and ice cream available. In the early morning hours of Jan. 12, multiple individuals reported their license plates stolen. The thefts occurred along Tattnall and Liberty streets, West Jones Street, and the intersection of East Jones at Abercorn streets.
