SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A 65-year-old Scottsdale man was charged in connection with what police called a plot to hire men to kidnap his ex-girlfriend and kill her dog, according to the Arizona Attorney General's Office.
Jay Borker was charged in October with conspiracy, money laundering, attempted kidnapping and attempted second-degree burglary.
Borker was arrested, and bail was set at $5 million. He was released after posting bond in late October.
Trial is set for March 31.
Borker was accused of paying two men $15,000 each in August 2021 to abduct and tie up his girlfriend and to kill her dog, the Attorney General's Office said in a news release.
The men Borker hired were actually two Tempe Police Department detectives working undercover, the attorney general said.
