Here are the top 3 stories today in Anchorage: In 2017, correctional officers from the Department of Corrections (DOC) used excessive force with five different inmates. Since then, the complaints were found to be justified; however, the situation has still not been rectified. Even though many recommendations have been provided to the DOC, they have been, for the most part, unresponsive. (Kenai Peninsula Online)As cases of the omicron variant skyrocket, Anchorage teachers have been stressed and confused on how to proceed. It has not been uncommon for most teachers to experience absences of around 20 students per day. Teachers would like to continue teaching in person, but they believe that serious guidelines need to be set in place to make it possible.
