Looking for Landlord/Property Owner with Available Unit for Rent

We are looking for a landlord/property owner with an available unit for rent. Available now, or relatively soon. At this point it seems our best option is to work directly with a property owner to try and find a rental. We have not been approved through property management companies because of my credit. No bankruptcies or collections to utility companies but two collections for store credit cards from years ago and a car loan that defaulted when i went through my divorce (which is being paid off.) Both of us are employed full time, can prove verifiable income, positive rental history, references, clean background checks. Simply looking for a 1 bed 1 bath unit with rent to not exceed $1300/month. We have no pets. Please respond if you are a property owner and feel like this may be do-able, or please share this posting if you know someone who may consider us. SERIOUS RESPONSES ONLY.
