Beginner Keyboard Class for ages 6 - 10. Eight 1-hour classes on Fridays at 6:15pm beginning February 11. Beginner Piano/Keyboard Class for children ages 6 - 10 * Class size limited to 8 participants * Eight 1-hour classes on Fridays at 6:15pm beginning February 11 and ending April 8 (no class on March 25).  An additional 4-6 classes may be offered after Easter in order to finish the first book - further details TBA. Instructor: Andrey Lubimtsev This is hands-on learning from the start as everyone has their own keyboard to use in class.  Some of the topics covered include music theory, notation, melody & chords, hand position and posture. For students who complete book 1, they will have a basic understanding of the keyboard and basic music theory.  Young students will be able to play simple melodies one hand at a time; older children will be able to play a simple melody with basic accompaniment. Group classes for beginners offer a number of advantages over starting with private lessons. Besides the cost savings, the group environment provides more time to learn with an instructor. Playing along with others is also a benefit to learning, and it’s more fun! The method book used for this class is the Bastian Piano Method.  Each a student will receive a copy at no additional cost. This class is organized as a fundraiser to benefit the Keystone Musical Arts Center. FREE Introductory Class is being offered on Feb. 4th! You will need to have access to a piano or a keyboard with full-size keys so that you can practice between classes.  Keyboards will be provided during the classes, so the only thing you will need to bring with you each week is the book. Can younger students participate?    Maybe.  Younger (age 5) may be able to take the class but a brief evaluation is needed first.  Please contact us for more information about this.
