SARASOTA, FL — Twin brothers in Sarasota are facing multiple charges after a victim reported that his car was shot by a pellet gun while driving on Brink Avenue, Sarasota police said in a news release. Jason Versakos, 39, was charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, while Jeremy Versakos, 39, was charged with resisting an officer without violence. On Dec. 30, just after 6:30 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Brink Avenue in Sarasota after receiving a call about a shooting. The victim told police that as he was driving north on Brink Avenue an object hit the right rear passenger window of his car. He heard a loud bang and his passenger screamed. Then, they noticed a large hole in the rear window, which shattered, police said. The two brothers, who live near where the shooting took place, were brought to Sarasota police headquarters for questioning. While being interviewed, Jeremy showed police their home surveillance camera footage on his cell phone. The video showed the brothers fighting with an unknown man in an SUV. Not long after the fight, the video showed Jason walk out of the house with a rifle and then walk back into the house, police said. Several minutes later, officers saw a vehicle drive by the home, heard a pop and a woman scream. According to police reports, there were similar incidents in the area on Dec. 26 and 27. "There have been multiple complaints of vehicles being struck with hard objects on the same road in front of the same address," one report read. "Complaints are consistent that their vehicles are being shot at with a pellet/BB style gun." In another report about a car being shot by a pellet or BB gun, the officer wrote, "I believed that either Jeremy or Jason Versakos is involved … because they are both known to cause issues with vehicles that drive through this area." Detectives believe there may be other victims who had their vehicles shot by a pellet gun in the area of Brink Avenue between 17th Street and 12th Street during the last 30 days.
