ORLANDO, FL — Universal Orlando workers must soon be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be subjected to weekly testing, a spokesperson confirmed to Patch.
"The health and safety of our guests and team members has been our ongoing focus during the pandemic," Universal Orlando spokesperson Tom Schroder said in a statement. "Our team members share this commitment, with the majority telling us they already have been vaccinated."
To comply with federally mandated Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, Schroder said Universal Orlando recently updated its existing health and safety policy to include COVID-19 vaccination or testing for its team members.
Schroder said team members will be required to either be fully vaccinated by Feb. 9 or be tested every seven days.
"We will initially provide free, on-site, testing for team members and evaluate this as we move forward," he told Patch.
According to Universal Orlando, this new policy is specific to its team members and does not apply to guests.
Schroder said the company will monitor legal action involving these regulations by a variety of state and private interests and will adapt accordingly if there are changes.
