Description

Learning to identify local trees by key characteristics, even when leafless. This workshop is hosted by Isabel Branstrom of MSU Extension. There are plenty of tree species growing in Michigan, both native and naturalized. This workshop will help you identify trees based on distinct characteristics that you may have overlooked before. Isabel Branstrom will be showing us how to accurately determine what the trees that we see around the neighborhood are, and if they’re helpful (or harmful) to our gardens and local ecosystems. In order to be able to offer exceptional gardening workshops to our community, we try to price the workshops to cover our costs of hosting them while keeping the registration affordable for our neighbors. If you can, we ask that you pay the suggested $15. You are always welcome to pay more to support our programming and subsidize attendance for other neighbors. If the cost of this workshop is a burden for you but you still want to come, we will not turn you away! Please email Kelsi Briana Smith at [email protected] (or call at (517)999-3913) to discuss this option. Allen Neighborhood Center is a place-based organization that serves as a hub for neighborhood revitalization and for activities that promote the health and well-being of Lansing’s Eastside community and other stakeholders. Since 1999, ANC has pioneered programs in health education and outreach, housing improvement, food security and nutrition education, youth development, commercial corridor revitalization, and social capital building. We do all of this with the generous support of the engaged and unique Eastside community.
