NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man faces charges after he allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle into a building and fled the scene, Milford police said.
Victor Martinez, 29, of New Haven was charged with second-degree larceny and violation of probation on Jan. 5.
That day, police said they responded to the area of Merwin Avenue and Sandpiper Crescent in Milford on a report of a motor vehicle accident where the vehicle had fled the scene.
Officers received a description of the vehicle Martinez was driving, determined it was stolen out of Waterbury, and located it in West Haven, police said.
When officers attempted a motor vehicle stop, they said Martinez took off in the vehicle, crashed it into a building and fled on foot, leaving an injured woman behind, police said.
Martinez was later found and arrested on the larceny charge. While in custody, officials determined he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for a probation violation, police said.
His bond was set at $45,000 and he had a court date of Jan. 6.
