Commack Schools Appoints Daniel Ciccone as Principal of Burr

COMMACK, NEW YORK â The Commack Union Free School District is pleased to welcome Daniel Ciccone to the District's administrative team. Mr. Ciccone was recently appointed Principal at Burr Intermediate School following an intensive search and interview process for the most qualified candidate for the position. Mr. Ciccone was appointed at the District's most recent Board of Education meeting on December 9, 2021. "It was a top priority of our District to select a leader who easily connects with parents, students, and staff, as well as to build on the existing academic excellence that Burr Intermediate School continuously demonstrates," said Mr. David Flatley, Interim Superintendent of Commack UFSD. "Mr. Ciccone's success as a building administrator and teacher, along with his proven leadership skills, will serve him well as principal of Burr Intermediate School." Mr. Ciccone comes to Commack with over a decade of professional experience in the education field. Most recently, Mr. Ciccone served as Assistant Principal of C.P. Weber Middle School in the Port Washington Union Free School District for the last five years. From 2010-2017, he was a middle school technology education teacher in both the Great Neck and Port Washington school districts. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in U.S. History/Social Studies Education 7-12 from Stony Brook University, Mr. Ciccone pursued a Master of Arts in School Leadership at Touro College. He is certified by New York State in Social Studies (7-12), Technology Education (Kâ12), and as a School Building Leader. To ensure a smooth transition in leadership, Mr. Ciccone will work with the current Burr Intermediate School administration and will officially start as Principal on February 1, 2022. The Commack UFSD is looking forward to him joining the team and helping the District achieve its ongoing improvement goals as well as continuing a tradition of educational excellence.
