Description
Press release from Albuquerque Public Schools:
January 12, 2022
All Albuquerque Public Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 13, due to a cyberattack that has compromised some systems that could impact teaching, learning, and student safety — this includes the district's student information system used to take attendance, alert parents of student absences, contact parents in emergencies, and assure that students are released from school to authorized adults only.
The district is working with contracted professionals to fix the problem, and we hope to re-open schools Friday, Jan. 14. However, if the issue isn't resolved by mid-day Thursday, students, families, and staff will be notified.
The school days will need to be made up at the end of the school year, just as snow days would be.
At this time, athletic games, tournaments, and other extracurricular activities are expected to continue as scheduled.
Meals won't be served on days schools are closed.
APS administrative offices will remain open Thursday and Friday, and essential school employees are also expected to report to work. Employees will be paid on Friday as normal.
