HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken library main branch closed for Thursday, Jan. 13 but will reopen Friday. And the Grand Street Branch was still open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The main branch will reopen with events on Friday, but will be closed again Monday, Jan. 17, for Martin Luther King Day. They have a series of events for adults and kids planned over the next few weeks (see calendar link below). The library said they decided to close Thursday because, as they renovate portions of the century-old building, a "giant road-wide crane, with a huge extendable arm, [will] lift everything some 40 feet, through the windows of the Library's Fifth Street facade" to get renovation materials in. This past summer, the library replaced a furnace from 1897. Use the website at HobokenLibrary.org for free downloads and research, and to order material from the online catalog.
