SALEM, NH — The filing period for Salem town offices begins next week, according to Town Clerk Susan Wall.
Candidate filing will start on Wednesday, Jan. 19, and run through Friday, Jan. 28, at the town clerk's office at 33 Geremonty Drive. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidates interested in running must be registered to vote in Salem.
When voters go to the polls on March 8, they will make decisions on the following races: One three-year seat for the Board of Selectmen; two Budget Committee seats, which are a three-year commitment; a single, two-year town moderator position; one Supervisor of the Checklist position for six years; one library trustee, which also is a three-year term; two Trustee of the Trust Fund seats — one for three-years and one for one year; two Planning Board seats, which are also three-year terms, and one Zoning Board of Adjustment seat, which is also three years.
Two school board seats will also be decided with the same filing period. Candidates must sign up to run at the SAU office.
Polls will be open for the town election between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on March 8 at five polling locations around town.
The first deliberative session of Town Meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Feb. 5, at Salem High School.
