Description

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were called to 71 Manchester St. on Wednesday for a garage fire. When firefighters arrived, they found a 25-foot by 25-foot structure on fire that was well involved and a power line on the ground, too. "Heavy fire is showing," fire command said. Firefighters were immediately concerned there might be exposure to other buildings and the fire could spread to a nearby house and a manufactured home behind the structure. A "working fire" was then called. Concord police closed off the street at Old Turnpike Road and mutual aid was requested. An ambulance from Hopkinton and an engine from Hooksett were asked to assist. Unitil was also called to repair the downed line. After about 15 minutes, most of the fire was knocked down. "Primary search of the exposure building is all clear," fire command said, while holding all the Concord companies requesting mutual aid for city coverage for a bit longer. Fire prevention was also called to investigate the cause. NEWS 603 posted this video on YouTube.com. At a little past 8 p.m., fire command began releasing firefighters from the scene. Concord General Services were also requested to come and sand the street since the water used to extinguish the fire would cause the street to be icy after firefighters left. Got a news tip?
