Press release from Kendall County Sheriff's Office: 01/13/2022 1:45 PM For Immediate Release For Immediate Release Kendall County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Crash Kendall County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Crash Kendall County, IL (January 13, 2022, 1:45 PM) The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic crash that occurred at 8:32 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, near the intersection of Briarcliff Rd and Bereman Rd in Oswego Township. An officer from the Montgomery Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer on Route 30, near the intersection of Briarcliff Rd. The vehicle stopped and as the officer approached the vehicle it fled from the stop. The officer then returned to their squad car and began to check the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle. While searching the area the officer located the vehicle which had struck a tree on Briarcliff Rd near Bereman Rd. The officer approached the vehicle and discovered the driver had fled the scene, and an individual was located in the passenger seat suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics were summoned to the scene to treat the individual who was transported to Rush Copley Hospital. The individual, identified as 26-year-old Jose A. Cardoza-Chavez of Montgomery, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. This is an active and ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact 630-553-5856 or contact Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999. Crime Stoppers callers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
